wms service of the region of murcia :

In accordance with the European directive INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe), the Directorate General of Spatial Planning has made the information layers of the Territorial Information System of the Region of Murcia available as a WMS service

WMS: What is WMS?
WMS stands for Web Map Service

It is a standard used to publish geographical information on the internet. The specifications are available at OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium).

This is a service and not a web page. It has to be used with a browser that allows this kind of service.

The address of this service is:

Lightweight browsers
Lightweight browsers are web pages that allow you to consult geographical information coming from one or several WMS servers. No installation is required because they only act as an intermediary in the management of requests to the server. They can be generic browsers or IDE geoportals of official organisations.

Examples:

  • Generic systems:

  • IDE Geoportals:

Heavy browsers
These require the installation of a program on the computer itself. They are GIS applications (Geographical Information Systems) that allow WMS servers to be added as another working layer. They can be divided into two types: freeware applications and commercial software applications .

Examples:

  • Freeware

The majority of GIS commercial applications allow WMS data that comes over the internet to be seen. OGC provides a list of compliant products at:

Data characteristics and WMS service features
The layers of available thematic geographic information have been georeferenced on the Cartography of the CARM, produced by the Cartography Service of the D.G. of Spatial Planning and coasts, to scale 1:5.000, with the following characteristics:

Projection: U.T.M. 30N
Geodesic System: ED50

The layers can be viewed at different scales. This means greater detail is shown when you zoom in.

The service accepts the different versions of WMS that are defined in the OGC:

  • Version 1.0.0
  • Version 1.1.0
  • Version 1.1.1
It accepts the following SRS (referencing systems):

For geographical coordinates:

  • EPSG:4230 ED50
  • EPSG:4326 WGS 84
For U.T.M. coordinates:

  • EPSG:32627 WGS 84 / UTM zone 27N
  • EPSG:32628 WGS 84 / UTM zone 28N
  • EPSG:23029 ED50 / UTM zone 29N
  • EPSG:23030 ED50 / UTM zone 30N
  • EPSG:23031 ED50 /UTM zone 31N
Accepted image formats are:
