The conservation and appreciation of Cultural Heritage is a factor to take into account in spatial planning and territorial management. Not only does Spanish Heritage law 16/85 regulate it but so do all other sectorial legislations with territorial impact.

It is therefore, essential information for the Territorial Information System and accordingly data from the catalogue of fixed assets of historical interest has been inserted. This section will be extended shortly to include information relevant to archaeological heritage.

The information comes from the catalogue of Bienes Inmuebles submitted by the Directorate General of Culture and from the planning instrumentes submitted by the Directorate General of Urbanism and Housing. The D.G. of Spatial Planning and Coasts has processed and introduced this information in the S.I.T.
